The "Massaie del Chianti"
Butta la pasta!!! [Soup’s on!!!]
With its culinary activity, Relais Casanova aims at offering guests the emotion of living a full-round Tuscan experience – which could only be transmitted by the Massaie of the town, local housewives who have spent their lives cooking for their families. Local cuisine, a medley of natural, genuine, succulent ingredients; traditions and flavors jealously guarded and handed down from mother to daughter over the centuries; dishes invented using the products of the kitchen garden and the woodlands and meats from stock raised on the local farms, accompanied by strictly extra-virgin olive oil, a bread with no equal anywhere in the world, and true connoisseur wines.
Our guests may invite one of our Tuscan Massaie and enjoy a traditional home-cooked Tuscan dinner prepared especially for them, perhaps prepared after a visit to the garden, to the town market, or to a neighboring farm to gather the genuine ingredients that are the basis of an authentic Tuscan meal.
Just a few of the dishes: lasagna with meat sauce, the hearty pappa al pomodoro tomato soup, Florentine steak, batter-fried fresh seasonal vegetables, and a tiramisu dessert.
For those of you not familiar with Tuscan food – and those of you tired of just prosciutto ham and mozzarella – but even for experts looking to improve their cooking skills, the Massaie del Chianti invite you to attend their cooking classes.
